Action tab on the Flow Action form

In the Action tab, you can:

Complete the following steps:

  1. Optional: Configure the actions that occur before the user submits that action form in the Pre-processing section.

For preprocessing, the system first applies a data transform, next runs an activity, and finally runs an automation.

    1. In the Apply data transform field, specify a data transform that the system applies to the current primary page at run time.

      1. Enter values for the parameters, if any, for the data transform.

Note: If, at run time, this flow action has the highest likelihood, the form for this flow action appears as the default form when your application displays a Perform user form. The data transform also runs. Consider the consequences if the user then selects a different flow action.

    2. In the Run activity field, specify an activity that the system runs before it performs other processing for the flow action.

      1. Complete one of the following actions:

        • Specify an existing activity.

        • Create a new activity by clicking the Open icon.

Leave this field empty if this flow action supports bulk processing. Bulk processing cannot use a preprocessing activity.

      1. Specify the values of parameters, if any, for the activity.

    3. If you are using Robotic Desktop Automation (RDA), specify the preprocessing automation to run on the user's desktop. Run a preprocessing automation when you want to retrieve data from an application that is running on the user's desktop and will then be displayed in a user form in your application.

  2. Note: Automations are always run synchronously; flow processing pauses while the automation is running. After the automation completes processing, the clipboard is updated, and the section referenced on the flow action is rendered.

  3. Optional: Configure the processing that occurs after the user submits the action form in the Post-processing section.

For post-processing, the system first invokes an automation, next applies a data transform, and finally runs an activity.

    1. If you are using RDA, specify the postprocessing automation to run on the user's desktop. Run a postprocessing automation when you want to send data that users enter in a case form to all the applications that are running on a the user's desktop.

    2. Complete the following steps:

      1. In the Robotic automation field, enter automation name.

      2. In the Description field, enter text that describes what the automation does.

Note: Automations are always run synchronously; flow processing pauses while the automation is running. After the automation stops processing, the clipboard is updated, and your case continues to the next assignment.

    3. In the Apply cost field, specify the flow action cost.

    4. In the Apply data transform field, specify a data transform that the system applies to the current primary page at run time.

      1. Enter the values of parameters, if any, that are on the data transform.

    5. In the Run activity field, enter the activity that the system runs after it processes the flow action.

      1. Enter the values for parameters, if any, that are on the activity.

  4. In the Back-to-back processing configuration section, specify how to manage back-to-back processing.

  5. In the Action buttons section, specify how to control the display of the flow action's default navigation buttons.

  6. In the Indicator section, specify how you intend to use the flow action.

    1. Select the Disqualify this action from bulk processing check box to exclude the flow action from the list of flow actions that are available for bulk processing. See Running flow actions in bulk .
