System Tools menu

The following system tools are available in the Pega Platform:

Settings Description
General
System, Nodes, Requestors

Lists requestors, nodes, current system name, and other information from the System Name data instance.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > General > Systems, Nodes, Requestors.

Available application

Lists applications rules in the Pega Platform.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > General > Available Applications.

Settings
URLs

Lists the URL path to the Help system, Direct Web Access (DWA), and System Management Application (SMA).

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Settings > URLs.

Compiler

Identify the class path and external JAR files that support Service Java rules.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Settings > Compiler.

Search

Configure, monitor, and control full-text searching for facilities in the Pega Platform.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Settings > Search.

Security Policies

Enable and configure CAPTCHA functionality, display the log that records login attempts, view a report of changes made to the security settings.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Settings > Security Policies.

System Name

Change the system name of your Pega Platform system. This modifies all the system records, nodes, and all associated Data instances that reference this name in the application.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Settings > System Name.

Project Management

Enable and disable application version, feedback, project tracking, and PMF product for applications that you can access. Set the value for URLs that establish connectivity between your application and the Project Management Framework.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Settings > Project Management.

Predictive Diagnostics Cloud

Specify the configurations for the Predictive Diagnostic Cloud to monitor, analyze, and manage the performance of the Pega Platform.

Performance
PAL

Helps to understand the system resources consumed by processing of a single requestor session, or the SQL statements sent to the PegaRULES database by the requestor session.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Performance > PAL.

Database Trace

Monitors the interactions between the Pega Platform server engine and the PegaRULES database or external relational databases, and the operation of the rule cache. You can view a detailed trace of internal operations.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Performance > Database Trace.

Performance Profile

Provides detailed CPU statistics for activity steps, when condition rules, and data transforms executed by your requestor session.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Performance > Performance Profile.

Rules Not Using Lightweight List

Searches for rules in the application that are using page lists, that instead could use lightweight lists for better performance. The utility searches List Views and Summary View rules, Obj-Browse and Lookup List activities.

My Performance Details

Shows summary interaction data for a user for the past week. Rows are sorted by requestor ID.

Active Rule Sets Lists

Shows total performance statistics (CPU, output bytes, database bytes read and written) for each of the past 7 days for each active ruleset lists.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Performance > Active Rule Set Lists.

Database
Modify Schema

View, and in some cases modify, the schema of the PegaRULES database.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Database > Modify Schema.

Column Population Jobs

Monitor the background processes that copy the property values (from the BLOB) to a new column in a report.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Database > Column Population Jobs.

Refactor
Classes

With the Rename a Class function, you can adjust all of the rules that apply to a class so that they apply to a different, new class. Delete all the rules that apply to a class and the class itself with the Delete a Class function.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Refactor > Classes.

Rules

The Search/Replace a String function searches through all rules, or a subset of rules, and replaces one text string with another. With the Refactor on Import function, you can rename the classes in a zip archive during import to place the new rules in the appropriate position within the class hierarchy of this system. Compare changes between two rule instances with the Compare Rules function.

RuleSets

With the Copy/Merge RuleSet function, you can rename, duplicate, or consolidate rulesets and versions.

You can delete all rules in a ruleset or ruleset version with the Delete a RuleSet function.

With the Skim a RuleSet function, you can copy the highest (major or minor) version of existing rules to a higher version.

With the Rulebase Compare function, you can compare the individual rules in the current system with those in a target Pega Platform system, and list differences between the two.

Release
Hotfix Manager

Compare the inventory of rules and code currently installed on your system to the contents of available hotfixes.

To access, click Designer Studio > System > Release > Hotfix Manager.

Update Existing Applications

Lists actions that modify existing applications to make them compatible with the release of Pega Platform that you are upgrading to.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Release > Upgrade > Update Existing Applications.

Final Conflicts

Lists the rules in the application that have potential conflicts with the final rules.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Release > Upgrade > Final Conflicts.

Upgrade Tools

Lists utilities that perform specific actions to modify, or identify elements of Pega Platform that need to be changed to be compatible with the upgraded release.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Release > Upgrade > Upgrade Tools.

Validate

Use the Revalidate for References function only on system upgraded from releases before PRPC Version 5.3, otherwise, it is not necessary to use this. It performs limited revalidation to improve the completeness and accuracy of Referencing Rules feature. The Revalidate and Save function starts the bulk revalidation tool, to check the validity of multiple rules (of one rule type) at once.

Operations
System Information

Displays detailed information about the system grouped across several sections.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Operations > System Information.

Requestors

Provides a list of requestors within four sections: Application, Browser, Batch, and Portal.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Operations > Requestors.

Logs

With the Log Files function, you can view the most recent Alert log, Pega log, Security log, and other logs for the current node. With the Logging Level Settings function, you can temporarily override prlog4j2.xml settings for a category (Java class) as a debugging aid.

Purge/Archive

Define work item purge or archive criteria with the Configuration function. Schedule work item purging and archiving with the Schedule Process function.

System Management Application

Monitor and control caches, agents, listeners, and other processing in your Pega Platform system. Authentication might be required to use this application.

Assembly
Assembly Compilation Summary

The Log-Usage.pzAssemblyCompilationSummary report displays by node the number of rule assemblies and compilations in a selected time period.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Assembly > Assembly Compilation Summary.

Assemblies for Ruleset List

The System-Cache-Entry.pxMyAssemblies report displays the assemblies for your Ruleset list hash in the past 24 hours. The report displays the rule and implementation key.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Assembly > Assemblies for Ruleset List.

Static Assembler

Opens the Static Assembler landing page, which lets you pre-assemble rules in an application.

Extract Edge Server Files

Create a .zip archive of the text file rules and images in an application for deployment on an edge server.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > Assembly > Extract Edge Server Files.

License
Usage Summary Report

View a report that details the current usage data on your system.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > License > Usage Summary Report.

Named Users Chart

View a chart that displays the number of regular and occasional users by month.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > License > Named Users Chart.

Services Invocations Chart

View a chart that displays the number of regular and occasional users by month.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > License > Services Invocations Chart.

Web Invocations Chart

View a chart that displays the number of web user invocations by month.

Access by clicking Designer Studio > System > License > Web Invocations Chart.
