Creating a hierarchy of case types

You can use the Case Type Explorer to create a hierarchy of case types in your application. By defining parent-child relationships, you can model dependencies in your application and share data among cases.

Do not use the Create form to create case types, because it does not generate the standard rules that make a case type functional.

  1. Review the existing case types in your application.

  2. Optional: To reuse case types from a built-on application, import case types.

  3. Create top-level case types.

  4. Extend top-level case types by adding child case types in one of the following ways:

  5. Optional: To track the development of the functionality that a case type provides, add subfeatures to the feature that corresponds to the case type.
