Specifying the list source for a Multi-Select list control

Specify the data source—data page, clipboard page, or report definition—for the Multi-Select list control. At run time, the list is automatically refreshed with new items whenever the property value changes.

Prerequisite: Add a Multi-Select list control.

  1. In the Type field in the List Source section on the General tab of the Properties panel, specify the data source for the list:

  2. In the Search results configuration section, specify the properties that are available for searching in the results set for the list.

    1. In the Data source property field, press the Down Arrow key to select the property from which the list is sourced.

    2. Select or clear the Show option to indicate whether the property is displayed in search results.

    3. Select or clear the Set value option and corresponding Property field to limit search results by value.

  3. Optional: To set a limit for the number of results returned for the list, enter a number in the Maximum results to display field.

  4. Optional: To specify the minimum number of characters that must be entered to create a list of possible matches for the list, enter a number in the Minimum characters to search field.

  5. Optional: To highlight the search string in each place that it occurs in the results display, select the Highlight match check box.

  6. Optional: To compare the search string only with the start of each string in the data—and not include in the results items where the string occurred in some other position—select the Match start of string check box.
