Import Geofences
Using the wizard

Use the Import button on the Geofences tab of the Real-Time Artifacts landing page to launch the Import Geofences wizard.

The import process has the following three stages:

• Import
• Review
• Summary

Import

Use the Browse... button to select the comma-separated values (CSV) file containing the list of Geofences to import. After selecting the CSV file, use the Next >> button to proceed to the review stage.

Notes on the import file:

• File must be in CSV format
• Entries in the CSV must be in the following order:
  Geofence Name, Radius, Radius Unit, Latitude, Longitude, Street Address, City, State, Postal Code, Country
  
  Example entry using coordinates:
  PegaBedford,2,Miles,42.928,-71.464,,,,,
  
  Example entry using address:
  PegaBedford2,2,Kilometers,,,8 Commerce Drive,Bedford,NH,03110,USA
• Geofence Name is required.
• Provide either location coordinates (Latitude, Longitude) or address (Street, City, State, Postal Code, Country) for each Geofence, but not both.
• Radius Unit should be either Miles or Kilometers. If radius unit is not provided, the system defaults it to Kilometers.
• System defaults Radius to 1 if it is not provided.

Review

In the review stage, you can review and resolve any conflicts. The system presents the following high-level information:

• Total number of Geofence entries in the CSV
• Number of Geofence records (rules) that will be created
• Number of warning messages
• Number of error messages

The Geofences to Import grid presents the following information about each entry:

Use the Import Options section to specify how to handle conflicts reported in the import process. Choose from the following options:

• Skip conflicts and keep my existing data - Select this option to ignore any conflicting Geofence entries and retain the original Geofence rule or the first Geofence import file entry, as appropriate.
• Overwrite all my existing data with the new import data - Select this option to overwrite all existing Geofence rules (in the system) and/or earlier import file entries with the latest file entry.
• Overwrite my existing data as marked above - Select this option to pick which import file entries should overwrite existing entries. Select the Overwrite check box for each desired entry. The system will ignore entries where the check box is not checked.

Finally, after reviewing the results and selecting the desired conflict management option, check the I have reviewed the results... check box and use the Next >> button to finalize the import and initiate the back-end creation/updating of Geofence rules.

Summary

Use the summary stage to view a summary of the import process. The system displays the following summary information:

• Number of Geofence rules created
• Number of Geofence rules updated
• Number of valid Geofence entries skipped
• Number of erroneous entries skipped

After reviewing the results, use the Done button to exit the import process.
