Able to submit change password flow despite a required field

When changing the password, on clicking in the New Password field (this is a required field),the 'Value cannot be blank' validation message displays. On clicking the Submit button, page level error message, 'Field is blank', displays.
The requirement is to not submit the flow and the validation message to display at the property level.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. In a section, add three input text fields (Old password, New password, and Confirm password) and a Submit button.
  2. Configure a pyChangepassword rule. Configure a validation rule on the focus-out action.
  3. Run the case. Enter a new password. Exit the field. Field level error displays.
  4. Click the Submit button. Page level error displays.

Root Cause

This behavior is as per Pega product design.

Here's the explanation for the reported behavior:

The Field level error displays as the New Password field is mandatory and a focus out event is added to the field. Due to this event, the action is triggered when there is a focus out of the field and the field has no input.

On click of the Submit button, page level error displays according to the configuration set in the pyChangepassword. Hence, the errors that display on the screen are the behaviors of the field level and on click of the Submit button actions.
