Account availability does not work correctly for outbound SMS



SMS messages are being sent outside of the defined outgoing SMS account availability window when the campaign is generating a large volume of outgoing SMS messages.

Error Messages

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a campaign with a large audience
  2. Specify a time range in outbound SMS account used for the offer
  3. Execute the campaign close to the end of the availability window

Root Cause

A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules.

SMS account availability windows are only checked in the master SMS agent, SendSMSInBulk. This means that the master agent can create a queue item within the availability window, and the queue item could be processed and the SMS sent outside of the availability window because the child agent, SendSMSChild, did not check the availability window. Additionally, if the data flow has started and processing overlaps the end of the availability window, then SMSs will continue to be sent.
