Alert in Pega Diagnostic Cloud due to delayed connectivity check

SA-55468

Summary

The application uses the SendEmailNotification activity to send an email which in turn invokes the SendEmailMessage function. The SendEmailMessage function has a code to check whether the previously opened connection to the SMTP Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) is still valid. This connectivity check takes five seconds leading to alerts in Pega Diagnostic Cloud.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Configure an Email account on SMTP MTA having default settings
  2. Run the SendEmailMessage function with the Email account

Root Cause

The delay is caused by a configuration on the user’s SMTP MTA, the tarpit interval.

Resolution

Perform the following local-change:
Setup a proxy MTA without the tarpit configuration.

Alternatively, use the variant of SendEmailMessage.
