Alter DDL changes do not take effect on product import

Summary



When importing a package that includes the Alter scripts for an already existing table, the table changes are not processed though a success message is reported at the end of the Import process.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create the product file which includes schema changes.
  2. Import the product file to the QA environment. While importing the file, the system identified the Data Definition Language (DDL) changes.
  3. Select the Automatic deployment option. The process is completed without an error. Verify the table after deployment. The new columns are not present.


Root Cause



A defect or configuration issue in the operating environment.

User did not have permissions to apply the DDL changes.



Resolution



Perform the following local-change:

Grant the user the DatabaseAdministration role which includes privileges to alter database columns.
