Application is not launching in Mozilla FireFox

Summary



User is launching an application in Firefox, a popup appears: "IE 6.0 or above is required to successfully run this application" Dismissing the popup loads the application but it is unresponsive.

User is facing the issue while launching the application from designer studio and End User as well.

Note : User is using auto generated portal.


Error Messages



"IE 6.0 or above is required to successfully run this application".


Steps to Reproduce



1) Create a Portal of type Fixed (Like, Work Manager) in earlier version of PRPC.
2) Upgrade the application to Pega 7.
3) Launch the application in Firefox browser.


Root Cause



A backwards compatibility defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules : Portals of type Fixed are not cross browser compatible. Fixed portals are deprecated from Pega 7.1 and these will run only in IE.

Resolution



Here’s the explanation for the reported behavior:

Fixed portals are deprecated in Pega 7 and those will work only in IE.
