"Auto Process" does not commit immediately

SA-24240

Summary

Developer reported that, in a flow, if an assignment is added, with the auto-process checkbox selected, once developer adds a utility, the FinishAssignment and commit are not called immediately after the assignment as it happens in a manual assignment. Instead, commit is done much later by the flow itself.

Error Messages

Not Applicable.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Create a flow.
2. Click on auto-process checkbox in the assignment.
3. Create a utility after assignment and configured some activity.
4. Run the flow and trace it.

Root Cause

This is an expected behavior.

Resolution

The following explanation is given for this.

In Auto process, the flow does not stops at assignment. The commit would not happen after the assignment as the flow would simply progress to next shape or utility by performing the flow action mentioned in the auto process. The commit would happen somewhere in the AddWork activity while processing.

In manual case, COMMIT is happening because it explicitly calls the Finish Assignment on Submit.

This is expected behavior.
