BIX Not Writing CSV to Local Directory

SA-7155

Summary

You need to run a BIX extract to output to a Comma Seperated Version (CSV) file on your local machine.  When you run the BIX extraction from the command line of your local machine it is failing.

Error Messages

ERROR - Path: /opt/apps/bixoutput mentioned in the output direcotry is invalid

Steps to Reproduce

Run the BIX extraction from the command line.

Root Cause

The root cause of this problem is defect/misconfiguration in the PRPC operating environment.  The pyOutputDirectory property defined in the extract rule does not exist on the local machine you are trying to run the extract from.

If you run the extract rule from the within PRPC the path it is writing to is on the application server that the web application is running on.  If you are running from the command line the path it is writing to is on the machine you are running the extract from.

Resolution

This issue is resolved by making the following change to the PRPC operating environment:

On the local machine you are running the extract from create the output directory defined in the extract rule.

If you want to specify a different location than what is defined in the extract rule you can do the following:

1.  Log into PRPC and save the XML of the extract to a file, ie C:\PegaSampleExtractRule.xml

2.  Edit the PegaSampleExtractRule.xml file to update the pyOutputDirectory

From:
  <pyOutputDirectory>
/opt/apps/bixoutput</pyOutputDirectory>
To:
  <pyOutputDirectory>C:\BIXOutput</pyOutputDirectory>

3. Run the extraction with the -I option like this

<Java cmd to run BIX> -I C:\PegaSampleExtractRule.xml
