Build Failed error during upgrade from Pega 7.1.6 to Pega 7.1.7

Summary



Error when upgrading from Pega 7.1.6 to Pega 7.1.7 using the ML upgrade wizard.

Error Messages



BUILD FAILED
C:\Anandh\Project\114717_Pega717-UPD\pegaGuiInstallerTemp0\build.xml:78: The following error occurred while executing this line:
C:\Anandh\Project\114717_Pega717-UPD\scripts\setupDatabase.xml:374: The following error occurred while executing this line:
C:\Anandh\Project\114717_Pega717-UPD\scripts\setupDatabase.xml:1387: This update cannot be applied, the system contains hotfixes generated after this release was built.


Steps to Reproduce



Run upgrade using IUA.

Root Cause



The root cause of this problem is a defect in Pegasystems’ code/rules.

 
\\\\ecc9000201\proj\WSI\SampleCode\Pega\114717_Pega717-UPD\scripts\setupDatabase.xml:374: The following error occurred while executing this line:
\\\\ecc9000201\proj\WSI\SampleCode\Pega\114717_Pega717-UPD\scripts\setupDatabase.xml:1387: This update cannot be applied, the system contains hotfixes generated after this release was built.

 
When upgrading to Pega 7.1.7, the above error occurs if any of the following is true: 
  • Cancelled the Pega 7.1.7 upgrade process at any time.
  • Installed any hotfixes on the previous version of 7.1.7.
  • Installing on top of 7.1.6.

Resolution



This issue is resolved through the following Local-change:
 
To apply the ML7 update use the following:
  • In windows, update.bat file, the correct syntax of the command is "update.bat --force=true"
  • For unix, update the syntax to "update.sh --force".
