Build fails During Pega 7.3.1 upgrade

Summary



During Pega 7.3.1 upgrade, after executing the migration.bat and while executing the Installation and Upgrade Assistant (IUA) tool on the upgrade schema, the build fails.


Error Messages



com.pega.pegarules.pub.database.DatabaseException: Database-General Unable to create a provisional node record in the database - too many unsuccessful tries to generate a unique ID Database-BadTableMapping-TooManyProperties System-Status-Nodes PegaRules.pr_sys_statusnodes PegaRULES pzSourceRevision , pyRunState
DatabaseException caused by prior exception: com.pega.pegarules.pub.database.BadTableMappingException: Database-BadTableMapping-TooManyProperties System-Status-Nodes PegaRules.pr_sys_statusnodes PegaRULES pzSourceRevision , pyRunState



Steps to Reproduce

  1. Upgrade from PRPC 6.3 SP1 to Pega 7.3.1.
  2. Create two blank Schemas (PegaRules and PegaData) in a separate database.
  3. Execute the migrate.bat script after setting the properties.
  4. Execute the IUA tool.


Root Cause



The upgrade procedure followed was incorrect.


Resolution



Ensure the correct order (listed below) is used during the upgrade procedure.
  1. Migrate.bat 
  2. IUA  tool
  3. Migrate.bat 
  4. Upgrade.bat -dataOnly
