Cassandra heap size does not increase

Summary



The prconfig.xml file is modified to override the system calculated heap size. However, the values are not overridden.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Insert the below tags in the prcong.xml.

    <env name="dnode/cassandra_heap_new_size" value="16G" />
    <env name="dnode/cassandra_max_heap_size" value="16G" />

     
  2. Restart the server node


Root Cause



In cassandra-env.sh file, the maximum heap and the new heap sizes are overridden.


Resolution



As a local-change, modify the cassandra-env.sh file as below: MAX_HEAP_SIZE="16G" 
HEAP_NEWSIZE="16G"
