Summary

We have a Rich Text Editor in a Section. Max characters user can enter in that RTE is 1000.

When user is typing characters, there should be some indication showing how many characters are remaining or how many characters are typed.

Similar to "http://www.charcounter.com/".

Same in case of TextArea also.

Please let us know how to achieve this functionality.

Resolution

There is no OOTB feature for character counter on a TextArea in the PRPC version that you're currently on (6.2 SP1). This was filed as an enhancement request, which has been implemented as of version 7.1.5.

However, if you do want to restrict the users to enter a specific number of characters (and not more than what you specify), I recommend that you can use the "FixedSize" as the control for this property. By default this has the 32 character as the limit, but you can do a private checkout of the control rule and change to whatever limit you want.
