Connect-SOAP throws exception when attribute size exceeds limit



Exception occurs in Connect-SOAP while mapping response to an attribute when SOAP Service returns an attribute with content size greater than 512 KB. The property, Parse XML rule to which data maps is an attribute. The external SOAP service returns the content of a file as an attribute in the Response body. 

Error Messages com.ctc.wstx.exc.WstxParsingException: Maximum attribute size (524288) exceeded at [row,col {unknown-source}]: [1,897915]

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a Connect-SOAP
  2. Add a property as an attribute in the Parse XML rule
  3. Map the response returned by a SOAP Service to the attribute 
  4. Exception occurs while parsing the response when the size of the attribute content is greater than 512 KB

Root Cause

A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules.


Perform the following local-change:

  1. Back-up PR_ENGINECLASSES table
  2. Execute the below SQL query to delete the classes related to webservices-rt.jar from the PR_ENGINECLASSES table  delete from v721smrules.pr_engineclasses where pzjar like '%webservices-rt.jar%';
  3. Apply HFix-28742
  4. Restart the Pega Application Server nodes
