ConnectionException occurs when sending Flash SMS

Summary



ConnectionException occurs when sending Flash SMS. This occurs after passing the Data Coding Scheme (DCS) parameter to the SMSC gateway for Flash SMS implementation.


Error Messages



Fail
Exception caught connecting to SMS server; ie.ncl.msg.ConnectionException: Cannot connect - Invalid System-ID Service-Type Combination Disconnected successfully from SMS server



Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a DCS property.
  2. Add the DCS property in the MALPOutboundSMSAdvanced section and the ListAllPropertiesSMS list rule.
  3. Set the DCS property in the outbound SMS landing page. Check the connectivity.


Root Cause



A software use or operation error.

Custom DSC parameter is included in the SMS Account details.


Resolution



Here’s the explanation for the reported behavior:

Out-of-the-box Pega Marketing 7.12 does not support sending custom settings in SMS Account details. However, Pega Marketing 7.22 supports configuring custom SMPP settings out-of-the-box.
