CPU overload and extreme Garbage Collection after Pega 8 upgrade

SA-83283

Summary

Pega Platform 7.2.2 with Sales Automation for Insurance 7.14 is upgraded to Pega 8.1.3 with Sales Automation for Insurance 8.1.
The user has upgraded Tomcat 8 to Tomcat 9.0.12 and Oracle Java 7 to Adopt Open Java 8.

The environment consists of 10 nodes:
  • four nodes for field agents or Customer Service Representatives (CSRs)
  • two nodes for inhouse CSRs
  • two nodes for exposed WebServices
  • two nodes for background agents
After the upgrade, on using the system again, the CPU load is high and multiple PEGA0104 alerts are generated on the field agent's and the inhouse CSR's nodes. However, the background nodes are unaffected. Additionally, the System Pulse is lost.
