Custom Mobile App Hangs on Android Log in

SA-42051

Summary

Android Mobile App will 'hang' showing the 'splashscreen' if the Login Page (@baseclass.Web-Login | RS:unauthenticated:01-01-01) contains an IMG which does NOT contain the a (CSS) 'class' attribute set to the value of 'logo'.

This does NOT affect the equivalent iOS Mobile App.

Error Messages

No applicable error: symptom is that Splashscreen remains on Device screen forever - no Login Screen Or Portal is shown to end-user.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Build a PRPC Application on top of Sales Automation 7.22.
2. Customize the rule: "@baseclass.Web-Login | RS:unauthenticated:01-01-01" to include an 'img' element such as this:

<img src='<pega:reference name="pxThread.pxReqURI" mode="normal" /> /webwb/customer.png' alt="Customer Logo" width="30%;" style="margin-left:auto; margin-top:10%; margin-right:auto" />

3. Build the Android Mobile App, deploy it to Android device.
4. Launch Android ; observe the splashscreen will remain on the screen ; it will never present the Login Screen or the Main Portal.

Root Cause

A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules

Note: BUG-319623 has been filed in order for Pega to look into removing this restriction.

Resolution

Perform the following local-change:

Introduce a CSS 'class' attribute with the value 'logo' for the IMG element; like this:

<img src='<pega:reference name="pxThread.pxReqURI" mode="normal" /> /webwb/customer.png' alt="Customer Logo" width="30%;" style="margin-left:auto; margin-top:10%; margin-right:auto" />
