[Tue Mar 07 11:38:09 2017] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] ap_proxy: trying POST /is/remoteCarbonService/isInteractionService at backend host '127.0.0.1/9705; got exception 'CONNECTION_REFUSED [os error=0, line 1715 of ../nsapi/URL.cpp]: Error connecting to host 127.0.0.1:9705'

org.springframework.remoting.RemoteAccessException: Could not access HTTP invoker remote service at [http://127.0.0.1:80/is/remoteCarbonService/isInteractionService]; nested exception is com.pega.apache.commons.httpclient.ConnectTimeoutException: The host did not accept the connection within timeout of 60000 ms

Steps to Reproduce

Not Applicable

Root Cause

A defect or configuration issue in the operating environment. From the log the request from the Pega application to InteractionService application never reached & it is timing out at the apache proxy level. HTTP call goes from the Pega application to Apache proxy and then to Interaction Service application. During the peak load, the apache proxy is over loaded and does not have enough connections left to handle the incoming requests, hence the connection timeout at the Pega application level. This apache proxy also serving other applications.

Resolution

Make the following change to the operating environment:

Apache server in this environment was shared between multiple application. User allocated the dedicated apache proxy between Pega application & InteractionService application and this resolved the problem.
