Error Messages

Steps to Reproduce

1. Configure a section with "DropDown" control.

-> No "Select.." is displayed on UI.
-> Property gets defaulted to first value in dropdown which is not meaningful.

Root Cause

In Pega 7, the Prompt Select and Dynamic Select controls have been merged into a single DropDown control.

With this change, the default caption attribute has expired. However, its replaced by the Include placeholder attribute. This new option serves the same purpose as was of the default caption.

The explanation for this behaviour is as follows:

The “Include placeholder” attribute serves as the default caption in Pega 7.

-> To use this option, user has to check Include placeholder in the dropdown control's properties.

-> Once checked, user can type any value you want (Example: Select...) to display as the placeholder (default caption). Also, user can select the placeholder from a list of some pre-defined values.
