Designer Studio drop-down menus not working

Summary



After upgrade to Pega 7.2, it is observed that sub-menus are not being displayed within the developer portal.

This behavior only occurs using the Chrome browser, but Internet Explorer 11 seems to yield the expected behavior.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Log in to the developer studio.
  2. Click on the Create link to launch the coupled menu.
  3. ​Observe that clicking away does not close the mentioned menu and none of the sub-menus are accessible.

Root Cause


A defect or configuration issue in the operating environment. This occurs because the Operating System is reporting the device in use is a touch screen enabled device. 

Given that setup, this is an expected behavior. For these touch enabled devices, event.touch returns true.

Since it self-reports as a touchable device, the invoke actions are based on touch events only. Pega touch infrastructure is not tested on these types of hybrid devices.

Which is to disable the touch events flag from your Chrome browser
chrome://flags/#touch-events
