DSS accumulation on restarts

SA-36896

Summary

An enhancement (HFix-33036) that reduces pulse traffic across the PRPC Cluster has the side effect of leaving a dynamic system setting when a node is restarted.

These dynamic system settings accumulate over time and are not needed.

Error Messages

Not applicable

Steps to Reproduce

Each restart of a node running Pega 7.2/HFix-33036 creates a dynamic system setting using PRPC cluster node UUID.

Root Cause

A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules.

The dynamic system setting created to help reduce pulse traffic across the PRPC cluster, needs to be cleaned up when a PRPC node is restarted.

Resolution

Apply HFix-33735.

Changes:

In the hot fix implementation, dynamic system settings of format "vbd/cluster/{clusterid}/serverMode" will be deleted when the Visual Business Director (VBD) service starts and no longer used.

New format vbd/pulse/{clusterid} = lastPulseTime will be used instead, and automatically cleaned if pulse time is older than 1 hour.
