Email Listener is listed as sleeping mode in SMA



An Email Listener is configured in Pega, but it only works sometimes. When checking the status is SMA, most of the time it is in sleeping mode.

Error Messages

Not applicable.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Start the email listener.
  2. Check back every few minutes, it is in sleeping mode.

Root Cause

This is expected behavior.


Here’s the explanation for the reported behavior:

By default, an email listener will check the inbox once every 100 seconds to see if there are any emails to process.

​It displays as "Sleeping" in SMA during times when it is not currently checking for or processing emails in the inbox.
