Error on converting single value to multi-variant circumstancing

SA-57688

Summary

Errors occurs while converting from single value to multi-variant circumstancing for a rule.

Error Messages

This rule already has a circumstance property defined (.PropertyName); you cannot give it another.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a copy of the single variable rule (a section in ruleset version 78) that contains the same circumstance in ruleset version 87 and withdraw the section
  2. Create a copy of the section using multiple variables in ruleset version 88. Error occurs

Root Cause

The validation logic for Circumstance rules does not consider the normal rules of rule resolution, withdrawn or blocked status. The only way to accomplish the switchover is to delete all existing versions of the rule.

Resolution

Perform the following local-change:

Create a new base version in the highest ruleset, and configure When rules to achieve run-time selection.
