Errors on saving a section with the Control text area

Summary
Errors occur on saving a section with the Control text area. This occurs when the Display Character Counter is set to False. The issue occurs post upgrading to Pega 8.2.4.
Error Messages
Syntax error on token "_counter", [ expected
Syntax error on token "/", delete this token
Syntax error, insert "]" to complete ArrayAccess
Syntax error, insert ")" to complete MethodInvocation
Syntax error, insert ";" to complete LocalVariableDeclarationStatement
5 problems (5 errors)
Compile failed.
Steps to Reproduce
- Open the User Interface (UI) Gallery Text area's design time configuration
- Open Text area properties
- Set the Min and Max characters on the Presentation tab. The Display Character Count radio button displays
- Set the Display Character Count radio button to True
- Save the section
- Set the Display Character Count radio button to False
- Save the section
Root Cause
A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules. Issue with generating the Span Counter of the text area.
Resolution
This issue was reported as a bug to be remediated in Pega 8.2.6 patch release, Pega 8.3.2 patch release, Pega 8.4 release and Pega 8.5 release.
