Exception during onclick of response button



On clicking any of the available response buttons (accepted or declined or saved), an error message is displayed on the Recommendation Advisor (RA) application portal.

Error Messages

javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: /jsf/dealCardPanel.jspx @593,62 action="#{responseMgdBean.negotiationResponse}": java.lang.NullPointerException

Steps to Reproduce

1. Log in with CASE_ID which falls into specific rate plan category.
2. Create a deal item.
3. Click Accept or Save or Decline button.

Root Cause

The NullPointerException was thrown from the getProductCategories().

Save Tools category was returning null value. This happens for all the CASE_ID's which fall into certain two rate plans in the business logic. This logic conditionally checks at Tool level for the middle category in the Save Tools.


Reconfigure the filter condition on one of the save tools component in the external collector from the ‘Tools’ level to the inner ‘Variant’ level.
