Fields in a non action area are always editable or read-only

SA-30988

Summary

User tried to control the appearance of Properties defined within Sections that are not embedded inside of the Action Area. The congruous Input Fields should appear as read only fields when the user has opened a case in Review Mode and switch to edit mode when the user switches to the Perform harness.

To achieve this requirement, user tried to control this with the help of the “Edit Options” available at the “Presentation” tab of the fields. Unfortunately, they are not able to achieve the expected behavior described above. Instead, the fields are either:
  • always displayed as editable fields (in Review and Perform mode) when we select Edit Option “Editable”.
  • always displayed as read only (in Review and Perform mode) when we select Edit Option “Auto”.

Steps to Reproduce

Scenario 1: Always read only
  1. Create / use a Section (A) which is not embedded into the Action Area.
  2. Embed another Section (B) within that Section (A).
  3. Add some Properties to the embedded Section (B) (for example as Text Input).
  4. Go to “Presentation”, set “Edit Options” of the Properties to “Auto”.
  5. Open the Section within a portal in Review Mode > Properties are read only (which is the expected behavior).
  6. Open the Section within a portal in Perform Mode > Properties are read only (which is not the expected behavior).

Scenario 2: Always editable

  1. Create / use a Section (A) which is not embedded into the Action Area.
  2. Embed another Section (B) within that Section (A).
  3. Add some Properties to the embedded Section (B) (for example as Text Input).
  4. Go to “Presentation”, set “Edit Options” of the Properties to “Editable”.
  5. Open the Section within a portal in Review Mode > Properties are editable (which is not the expected behavior).
  6. Open the Section within a portal in Perform Mode -> Properties are read only (which is the expected behavior).

Root Cause

Read only condition on the cell depends on the "SectionReadOnly" param. In the current case "SectionReadOnly" is always true(-1).

Due to this controls does not turn up in editable mode.

Resolution

As a local-change include two layouts or sections, one with "Ready only(Always)" controls and other with "Editable" controls.

Include visibility condition on the each layout to show read only section or layout in Review harness and "Editable" section or layout in Perform harness.
