Fields on tab do not become visible when radio button is clicked

SA-5150

Summary

When user clicks on a radio button on the first tab, a text field becomes visible as expected. When he does the same on the second tab, this does not work.

Error Messages

No error message

Steps to Reproduce

1. Create a tabbed repeat. Reference a section within it.
2. Inside that throw in another section with a radio button control. Configure its onClick to do a Refresh.
3. Inside the same tabbed repeat section, throw in another section with a text field. Configure this section's visibility on the basis of the radio button property value.

Root Cause

The root cause of this problem is a defect in customer application code/rules.
In PRPC 6.2 SP2, you cannot refresh 'Other' section onClick of radiobutton from its own section. Customer application showed evidence that a hidden custom control was present in the setup which handled this remote refresh. Tracer confirmed that even though you are on Tab 2, the control refreshes the section on the Tab 1 always.

Resolution

The explanation for this behavior is as follows:

Pegasystems does not recommend any customer to write custom HTML/JSP based controls to fulfill business requirements. The out of the box "Refresh When" feature on an included section can be implemented to acheive the reported requirement.
