Flow related error while updating to Pega 7.3

Summary



InvalidParameterException occurs while updating the rules schema. This occurs during update to Pega 7.3.


Error Messages



ERROR - Unable to validate Your_FWApp:02-01-06 Your_App because cannot be null or blank. page: FlowInstance.pyModelProcess.pyShapes. Details: Invalid value for aReference passed to com.pega.pegarules.data.internal.clipboard.ClipboardPageImpl.getProperty(String, char)

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Update from Pega 7.1.7 to Pega 7.3 using out-place-upgrade mechanism.
  2. Create a new schema.
  3. Migrate the rules tables from the old to the new schema by running migrate.sh script from the Command Line.
  4. Update the rules schema.


Root Cause



A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules. An issue with the Application Rule that is updated.


Resolution



Perform the following local-change to skip the step that blocks the upgrade:
  1. Update setupDatabase.xml.
  2. Comment the Update Existing Application task from Target Upgrade Finalization.
  3. Resume the upgrade.
