German special characters in imported data display incorrectly

Summary



When processing files with German characters using the File Listener Service, German special characters in the imported data display incorrectly. 

For example, umlaut U - "Ü"

Steps to Reproduce



Unknown


Root Cause



The Character encoding selected on the Service File rule did not match the encoding of the file to import.

In this use case, the encoding set for the Service Rule was Unicode (UTF-8). However, the file was ANSI or a version of ISO-8859-x.


Resolution



Perform the following local-change:

Ensure that the Service Rule settings, for the Character encoding, matches the concrete file encoding.

For files from different sources that use different encodings, a File Listener Service for each source is required.
