How to enable Pega0054 alerts for Elastic Search Monitoring

SA-46054

Summary

Pega 7 application relies on Elastic Search and suffers performance issues when searches are executed.

However, user do not see any PEGA0054 alerts even for low performing Elastic Search queries.

Error Messages

Not Applicable, but PEGA0054 alerts do not appear in the Alert log.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Perform a full text search from within the application which takes several seconds to complete. Refer to the PDN article:
https://pdn.pega.com/pega0054-alert-query-exceeded-operation-time-threshold/pega0054-alert-query-exceeded-operation-tim-0
2. Include defined Dynamic System Setting prconfig/alerts/search/operationtime_threshold and with value of 500.
3. Restart the application nodes.

Root Cause

An incomplete Dynamic System Setting name was used.

Resolution

Create the Dynamic System Setting with a name of prconfig/alerts/search/operationtime_threshold/default

The /default at the end is required when this setting is defined as a Dynamic System Setting rather than being set in the prconfig.xml file.
