HttpHostConnectException with slow instance

Summary
Application running very slow and user is not able to search any work item, data or rules.
Error Messages
unhandled exception: com.pega.apache.http.conn.HttpHostConnectException: Connection to http://abc.com refused
Steps to Reproduce
After logging into the application, while opening any work object, user is facing slowness as the work objects are not opening up and showing time out error.
Root Cause
Incorrect configuration of the search index node. Index node was pointing to the node Id in different environment.
Resolution
Fix the issue by pointing the index node in the search system landing page to the current system as it environment has only one running node.
