Summary

If developer opens multiple Pega applications in the same IE browser window in different tabs then he is getting multiple window warning 'You have an existing PRPC session running. Close this window. Try to locate the existing PRPC session and close this one. Close existing PRPC windows and Log Off - you will lose all unsaved data in the clipboard".

Root Cause

Because of the way IE shares session cookies, it is expected behavior that you see the multiple window warning message when you try to open multiple Pega applications in different tabs of the same IE window.

Resolution

If you would like to avoid seeing the warning message, here is what you should do :-

1> One solution to this problem is to open new session: File -> New Session.


2> Otherwise, there is an IE option switch -noframemerging to start a new browser window in a new, unique session . Add ' "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" –noframemerging' into the Target text box of the IE shortcut. Note : Even with the switch, you still have to open a new IE window (not a new tab in the same browser window).
