IE stops working on open and close of business rule



Post upgrading the application from Pega 7.1.6 to Pega 7.1.9, on opening a delegated business rule (Decision Table) from user portal and close the rule, the IE crashes with the pop up message "Internet Explorer stopped working". The issue is coming up with IE11 only.

Error Messages

An Internet explorer alert box with following information appears:

Internet Explorer has stopped Working. Windows can check online for a solution to problem.

Steps to Reproduce

 1 )  Log into the Application portal using credentials.
  2)  Go to the Rule Manager Tab.
  3)  Go to the Decision Rules.
  4)  Click on the link to open the rules.
  5)  Wait till all data loads into the rule.
  6)  Close the rule. Error is displayed.

Root Cause

A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules :

With the latest updates on the IE 11, the security has been scrutinized. The eval function used for IE 11 event propagation for the Edit-In-Excel to work in(pzActiveXUtilForDecisionTableAndMapValueRuleForms.js), was failing or breaking the latest security impositions of IE11 browser.
