Steps to Reproduce

Unknown

Root Cause

A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules.

This error occurs due to cycling nodes without a graceful shutdown. Prior to Pega Platform 8.2, the metadata about the Presence resided in a Distributed Cache. This cache which is backed up by the underlying technology. However, when multiples nodes fail simultaneously, data loss can happen, thus corrupting the metadata. This issue is common with any Enterprise application using Distributed Caches.
In Pega Platform 8.2, the Presence is enhanced and the metadata need not be stored. Hence, a situation with multiple nodes does not occur. The solution is to perform a full complete cluster restart.

Resolution

Perform the following local-change:

Restart the complete cluster instead of a rolling restart (that is, shut down all the nodes and start them).
