Inconsistency during multiple editions of MapValue Excel

SA-15006

Summary

User performs  'Edit in Excel' to update values in a MapValue. Excel launches and is editable, but when saving the spreadsheet, the values are not updated in Pega 7.1.6.

Error Messages

No error message.

Steps to Reproduce

    1. Open a MapValue rule.
    2. Try to modify the excel.
    3. Save the document.

Root Cause

User was doing a bulk copy and save of records from one file (Excel) to another (parent Excel), and was inserting on the last row, due to which the column or row structure was getting disoriented, and hence the changes were not getting committed. Moreover, after the copy or paste event, user was closing the Excel before Saving it. Therefore, the changes were not reflecting on the MapValue rule.

Resolution

Perform the following local-change:

1. Whenever a record is to pasted on the last row of Excel, it is adviced to first add an empty row, and then paste the data.

2. Ensure that before closing the Excel, the changes have been saved (either using the Save icon or doing Ctrl+S on Excel).

This ensures that the MapValue rule gets updated with the modifications.
