Inconsistent Look and feel on Composite Portal

SA-11331

Summary

Following an upgrade to Pega 7.1.7 from PRPC 5.5 portals launched from the Designer Studio get different styling to the same portal logged into directly by a user.

Error Messages

No error Message. Look and feel is inconsistent.

Steps to Reproduce

Launch portal from designer studio.

Root Cause

The portal in question is using a custom version of the WorkArea control created in PRPC 5.5 which means that this version of the control did not have any of the changes introduced in the previous version before it was deprecated.

Resolution

Reccommended: Update the portal UI to use the new Dynamic Containers.  If using the standard version of WorkArea then there is an Upgrade Now button to do this automatically.  See the following PDN article for more details:

Manually this can be done by taking the relevant sections used by the WorkArea gadget and making them into tabs for example
Here the WorkArea gadget is showing the UserHome Harness, which in turn uses the WorkList section.

To update to the Pega 7 standard you make a tab for the Worklist Section (+ any other static tabs that you require), and include a dynamic container as a tab:

Alternativly: Use the latest available version of WorkArea (or base custom versions on this)
