Inline grid double not working on PDF generation

Summary



A configuration involving a SECTION using “Inline Grid Double” presentation isn’t behaving as expected.
This SECTION is working fine at runtime. Unfortunately the same SECTION used on a “Smart Shape” to create a PDF attachment will not be generated correctly in said PDF.


Error Messages



No error message presented but the PDF isn’t displaying the SECTION as expected. The double positioning seems to be lost:




Steps to Reproduce


 

  1. Create a SECTION with “Inline Grid Double”.

  2.  


 
 

  1. Create a flow to display the SECTION at runtime and also generate PDF with smart shape.

  2.  


 
 

  1. Run the flow and look at the SECTION at runtime. All good so far.

  2.  


 
 

  1. Now check the PDF generated. The display is incorrect.

  2.  


Root Cause



This is a known issue that we do not support in SmartShape. Currently this is a limitation in PRPC, the recommendation is to use alternatives such as using a custom CSS.


Resolution



An explanation has been sent to the customer and a custom CSS has been created on their side to avoid this issue. So as an example, the following CSS could implemented on a custom rule-File-Text:



and then use the new CSS style on the SECTION definition:
