Issue with Edit mode inheritance behavior of sections

SA-90839

Summary

Read-Only(When) or Editable edit mode of a child section takes precedence over Read-Only(Always) of a parent section.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

Add Read-Only to a parent section which encloses a child section. The child section is editable as it is in the Edit mode. The child section controls can be edited instead of inheriting the Read-Only mode from the parent section during the run time.

In the earlier versions, if Read-Only(always) is present on a parent section, then its applicable to child section though Read-Only(when)/editable is present on the child section.

Root Cause

This behavior is as per the Pega product design.

Resolution

Here’s the explanation for the reported behavior:
Controls with Edit mode as Auto, considers the Edit mode of it's current section. When the controls have another Edit mode like Read-only, it is applied and the section's edit mode is not used. If the child section needs to inherit the edit mode from the parent section edit settings, then the edit mode must be set to Auto for the child section.
