Java exception thrown on upload of excel

Summary



The user is having trouble upload an excel file.

Error Messages


Unable to serve file
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Illegal characters detected in the path "web:/StaticContent/global/ServiceExport/T#203.1.1#20Guaranteed#20Cash#20Endowments#20-#20by#20policy#20year.xlsx". You may not use ", ?, *, <, >, |, :
at com.pega.pegarules.priv.storage.StorageUtils.normalizeRelativePath(StorageUtils.java:225)


Steps to Reproduce



Try to uploading the excel file into the work object.

Root Cause



When the user is uploading the excel file, the multipart request (http/https request) sent by the browser to the server is corrupted. Due to this, the PRPC engine is populating pxRequestor.pyFileUpload (full path of the file along with filename) property incorrectly resulting in the issue.

Resolution




Following local-change has resolved the issue.

Below code snippet is added to upload file activity, to trim the junk characters appended to the file name.

strFileName = strFileName.replace("file://web:/StaticContent/global/ServiceExport/null", "").trim();
