Kubernetes Container stalls on Bootstrap Phase 2



When starting a Pega out-of-the-box Kubernetes image in the Openshift, the process stops at Bootstrap Phase 2.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install Pega Platform to the Oracle database.
  2. Configure Kubernetes JDBC connection to point to the database through the ConfigMaps and Secrets.
  3. Deploy an ElasticSearch service for Pega to use internally within the cluster (pega-search).
  4. Deploy the pega-web pod within the pega-web service using the sample Openshift YAML files that are included with the Pega install material.

Root Cause

A defect or configuration issue in the operating environment.
In this use case, the Kubernetes cluster and the database server which hosted the Pega rulebase were in different data centers.


Make the following change to the operating environment:

Ensure that the Pega Kubernetes Cluster resides in the same data center as that of the database server.
