Master agent wakeup interval not updated after changing prconfig

SA-45020

Summary

The prconfig.xml file is set to update the master agent wakeup interval from 10 minutes to 30 seconds using the following entry:

<env name="agents/newqueuewakeup" value="30" />

On updating the file and performing a restart, the values for the master agent wakeup interval do not change as displayed in the System Management Application (SMA).

For example:

Pre-change or when using <env name="agents/newqueuewakeup" value="30" /> in the prconfig.xml file.
The setting is not applied and the default interval is displayed in the SMA Agents view (10 mins in milliseconds – 600,000).
General Information
Minimum allowed wakeup time for all agents 30,000
Wakeup interval for requestor-timeout (master agent) 60,000
Wakeup interval for new agent processing (master agent) 600,000
Initial startup delay for master agents 1,000
Java thread pool size 5

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Update the prconfig.xml file to include <env name="agents/newqueuewakeup" value="30" />
  2. Restart the system.

Root Cause

The 'newqueuewakeup' setting was part of the 'agent' category and not the 'agents' category (see https://pdn.pega.com/documents/configuration-settings-reference-guide-prpc-5x-prpc-62 page 21). The setting applied used the incorrect category (agents) due to which it was not referred to after a system restart.

Resolution

Perform the following local-change:

1. Apply the setting with the correct category in the prconfig.xml file.

<env name="agent/newqueuewakeup" value="30" />

2. Restart the system.

For example:

Using the updated <env name="agent/newqueuewakeup" value="30" />
The setting is applied and the interval is updated on the SMA Agents view (30 seconds in milliseconds – 30,000).

General Information
Minimum allowed wakeup time for all agents 10,000
Wakeup interval for requestor-timeout (master agent) 60,000
Wakeup interval for new agent processing (master agent) 30,000
Initial startup delay for master agents 1,000
Java thread pool size 5
