New 7.1 Branching design flawed (Rulesets ->branches-> Stages)

SA-19360

Summary

Attempting to to save an application with only a branch and no specified application ruleset is failing with the error pyRulesetList: Value cannot be blank. This approach is being used to test a single branch in isolation from any other branches.

Error Messages

Rule Form error:

pyRulesetList: Value cannot be blank

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create an application built on the main application
  2. Add a branch to the application
  3. Attempt to save the rule

Root Cause

When initially created, branches do not have any associated rulesets.  An application must have at least one application ruleset or a branch with an associated branch ruleset.

Resolution

Ensure that the branch has an associated ruleset.  This can be created by clicking the "Create branch ruleset" link in the application rule.
