No "Screen updated" popup when accessibility enabled



A visually impaired user with accessibility enabled does not receive a "Screen updated" popup when search results are displayed in a section. The user has no way of knowing that the search has completed and that they should proceed with JAWS to read the results.

Steps to Reproduce

With accessibility enabled, display search results in section in harness. No "Screen updated" popup appears.

Root Cause

To display the search results, the developer running a "refresh section", which will not trigger the "Screen updated" popup. This popup only appears if the harness or Iframe is reloaded as per design of the product.


This issue is resolved through the following local change:

Developer should add a second onClick behavior to the search button to do a "Run Script", after their existing "Refresh Section" action. The "Run Script" should specify the function "alert", with an appropriate message in the Value field under "Parameters", to inform the user that the search results have been updated:

At runtime, the user will see the below popup when he clicks the button to display the search results in the section. JAWS will be able to detect this and read it out to the user.
