NullPointerException in FUAHelperImpl

Summary
A developer has updated the CheckForCustomWarnings activity to perform checks on activity parameters. When doing a Save As on certain rules, this appears to trigger a NullPointerException in com.pega.pegarules.generation.internal.assembly.FUAHelperImpl.
Error Messages
java.lang.NullPointerException
at com.pega.pegarules.generation.internal.assembly.FUAHelperImpl.processScalarParameters(FUAHelperImpl.java:1005)
Steps to Reproduce
1. Update the CheckForCustomWarnings activity to perform checks on activity parameters.
2. Perform a Save As on a rule.
Root Cause
The root cause of this problem is a defect in Pegasystems’ code/rules. The FUAHelperImpl class did not check for a null value.
Resolution
This issue is resolved by hotfix item HFix-20993.
