Number changes if digit grouping delimiter is in wrong position

SA-32489

Summary

Numbers change if digit grouping delimiter is in the wrong position. For example: 12,34 is transformed into 1,234.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

Input invalid delimiter position and submit.

Root Cause

This works as designed.

Resolution

The number did not change value. Digit grouping delimiters do not change the numeric value of a number. They are visual groupings to determine the size of a number. Only the numeric value is submitted to the server without any digit grouping delimiters.
For example: Consider the following.
  • 1,234
  • 12,34
  • 123,4
Pega will strip the delimiters and will just post 1234. In other locales, where comma and period have a reversed meaning, the same holds true for the exact opposite.
