Number Type Field not limiting characters in Chrome browser

SA-40881

Summary

Number type input field does not limit characters in Chrome browser despite setting maximum characters value.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Set minimum and maximum character value on number type field in section.
  2. Run the use case on Chrome
  3. Enter characters in the number type field that exceed the maximum characters set.

Root Cause

HTML5 does not support the maxlength or minlength attributes on Number type inputs. Internet Explorer goes beyond the HTML5 specification to enforce the maxlength and minlength on Number type input, while Firefox and Chrome browsers do not support this.

Resolution

As a local-change, check the Display value using read-only formatting checkbox. This enforces the maximum characters set, but entering non-digit characters is not restricted.
