Old error in Program persists even after remedial actions
SA-9288
Summary
It was reported that there were errors in the Program but even after resolving them and restarting the Program run the error persists on screen. It’s a recurring Program. There was an issue with the Program (i.e. Segment was failing), which has been resolved and Program is running fine. But the error still persist on the screen.
Error Messages
Program has failed to run because of following error:
Your program has a program run failure with the following message:
Your Program Run has failed because of a problem refreshing your Starting Population 'ABC'
To resolve the issue, go to the segment and resolve the issue there, then restart or skip the Program Run
Steps to Reproduce
Behaviour can be reproduced easily by setting a numeric property (e.g., CLV_VALUE) to String value in Strategy which will make the Program fail and give below error:
After we have fixed the Strategy error, Program runs fine, however the error on the canvas stays:
Root Cause
The behavior is as per the design of the product.
Resolution
The displayed error includes the following relevant (paraphrased) pieces of information:
A) Your program has a program run failure
B) You can also go to the failed Program Run and restart/ignore it.
Part A is clearly true - the key word there might be 'a'. This is to draw attention to the customer that a failure occurred in at least one of the runs.
Part B tells the user how to resolve the error. In this particular case if it was a configuration issue and the customer has rectified the issues, they can review the failed Program Runs individually and take the Skip action on each. Once all failed Program Runs have been handled (skipped or restarted), the error message on the Program will no longer display.
It was reported that even after skipping all the Program Run, error still persisted. It suggested two possibilities..
1. The reported error was still not resolved.
2. The refresh of the Program canvas has not been done. If all the Programs have been skipped, you would need to refresh the canvas.
After refreshing the canvas the error got resolved.
